So I've heard great things about Top Knot and when my ever evolving plans changed from having an overnight trip in Denton to having a late girls night in dallas, I went on open table and made some reservations for 9:15pm. I had worked that day and Megan had already arrived at the salon as I was running behind with my last client. After I cleaned up a tiny bit we got in the car and I got gas and just sat down feeling achy all over. Megan was gushing with all the things she hadn't had a chance to tell me yet but I was half in so much pain and half listening. I passed the restaurant and parked at a gas station and finished telling stories. We were a little early and they only seemed to have valet.
10 til the reservation time I turned around and headed back. The valet were probably the least judgy despite me driving up in a 2012 Kia Soul with a headlight out. I repeated to myself that nothing matters and headed upstairs. While waiting on the elevator I took off my jacket remembering Dustin found it in a lost & found and tried to gift it to me. All my other jackets were at my brothers- my life is kind of a mess right now. The elevator doors opened and I rolled my shoulders back thinking confident thoughts like... screw everyone. They suck more than you.
Dinner crowd had definitely disappeared into the night a couple hours earlier. Walking through the dinner room after the host I felt a deep chill that throughout the meal I couldn't shake. I kept asking Megan if she felt it too. And she did. I mean it was frigid.
I was super excited about the Seoul food but I then noticed that menu was limited to Sunday/Monday. Typical. So after a bit of back and forth I ordered the crispy chicken bun.
When it arrived I let out a laugh and asked where my other sliders were at? Because I'm rude and don't understand the deliticate artistry that is fine dining. Or maybe I eat too much. I mean is that a meal? I think I need menus to be broken down into calories so I can make better judgment calls. It tasted amazing. But left me wanting more.
Megan got the chicken bowl with kimchi. See... I wanted to order this but she did too so for the sake of the blog I order the bun. I make sacrifices for y'all. Jk she let me try it though and it was great. Had some egg yolk in there and a side of this stuff that tasted like duck sauce. It was legit. Yet still a petite meal in my Amazonian standard.
We had fun thought. And I expected us to stay out longer but I started feeling so ran down. I just needed some sleep the salon has been so busy. Like... it's been crazy. So we ditched the tail end of our plans and headed back home. I miss having energy to hang out with friends. 😟
